With the B&Q Gift List, your friends and family have the chance to give you the gift of choice to help celebrate your special event. It's the perfect choice for a wedding, birthday, new house fund, or any DIY project. If you're using the Gift List for a wedding, there is an increasing demand for something different to the traditional gift list and here at B&Q we have provided just that. More and more couples are already living together before they get married and have already filled their home with the usual gifts you would expect on a wedding gift list so we have created a site which will give you the ability to really invest in your home together and by presenting your donations in the form of a gift card you will have the flexibility to choose exactly how this is spent. At B&Q we are committed to making it easier for you so once you receive your gift card you will have the choice of more than 40,000 great-value products all under one roof. B&Q strive to offer everything you need to successfully achieve your home improvement and DIY projects as we are the leading home improvement and garden centre retailer in Europe and have 350 stores in the UK. The B&Q gift card is the ideal present for people who love decorating their homes and spending time in their garden. They offer the flexibility to buy what you really want and are the perfect gift to help you begin a new chapter in your life.
Because we want this to be a useful, fun service we'll provide your own gifting home page with its own unique URL and Event ID. You can choose to customise your page as frequently as you want, update your greetings message and photos and use it as a communication board up to, and after your event. You can invite your wedding guests to contribute to your gift card by sending customised inserts with your wedding invitations or by email or Facebook.
Anyone can use our service, although the B&Q Gift Cards issued can only be redeemed in UK stores and in The Isle of Man stores. B&Q Gift Cards cannot be redeemed online, at B&Q Appliances or at non UK stores including Jersey and Guernsey.

During the registration process there is an option for you to donate up to 10% of your final account value to a charity. We have a choice of popular charities but if your preferred charity is not listed you do have the option to specify a charity of your choice when you initially register your B&Q Wedding Gift List. You would just need to provide the registered charity number and contact details so we can verify the charity information. We arrange payment to the charity by sending you a cheque made out to the relevant charity. This will be sent with your Gift Card. We will provide a stamped addressed envelope for you to send the cheque to the chosen charity and a compliments slip for you to confirm to the charity that you are the parties making the donation. You can set up your account without the charity donation option and decide to add it at a later stage by making changes via your dashboard. However, once you have decided to include a charity donation, you cannot change this option after the first sum has been pledged to your account. This is because your guests have been informed that a proportion of their gift will go to your chosen charity. Please note that we will only issue charity donations for £10 or more. If your total charity donation is for less than £10, it will automatically be added to your final account balance.
Yes it does. If the Gift Card has not been used for 5 consecutive years, it will cease to work.
Yes there are. At Green & Black's online store you can benefit from a 15% discount code to use on their website. This promotional code is provided within your welcome pack. (The welcome pack is sent out when you register your details, remember to include your address otherwise this cannot be sent.) The site offers a great range of luxury organic chocolate, specifically a range of “favours” consisting of 3 x 150g bars of individually flavoured Green & Blacks chocolate wrapped in coloured ribbon of your choice.
Guests can make pledges online by accessing your webpage via the URL and Event ID that you will have provided them with. You can tell them about your gift list by including bespoke inserts with your weding invitations or you can inform them by email or via Facebook. If the guest has lost or forgotten the login details then they can do a simple search on the site by event name, list holder name, or by venue. Alternatively they can make a pledge over the phone with our team of friendly and helpful staff. If you have chosen to password protect access to your homepage your guests will need to be provided with this password in order to make a pledge online but they can make a pledge over the phone without it.
Yes, the site can accept pledges from overseas guests. As long as all mandatory fields are filled in on the pledge form and their type of card is one that we accept then that’s fine.
If you're using the B&Q Gift List for your wedding, you will need to think about gift list options before you send out your wedding invitations and they are usually sent out about three months before the wedding. However you can set up your wedding gift list at any time, it’s completely up to you. We recommend at least 3 months before the wedding so you have ample time to communicate with your guests. However, if you have left it late and forgotten to include gift list details with your wedding invitations, you can always send your guests the details by Facebook or email.
Informing your guests about your wedding list could make you feel awkward. The important thing is not make your guests feel obliged to pledge and you can achieve this by carefully thinking about the wording on your homepage. Our invitation inserts are worded carefully to convey the idea that your guest's presence at the wedding is more important than whether or not they make a pledge. If you would like a sample of our inserts or for help with wording, please feel free to contact us. We understand that it can be difficult to get the etiquette right when choosing to have a gift list which is why we make our Gift List as customisable as possible so you can address the topic of wedding gifts hopefully without feeling cheeky or impolite.

No, your Gift List total will be available on a B&Q Gift Card only - we will not exchange it for cash.
A B&Q Gift Card can be used in full or part payment for any products purchased from B&Q stores in the UK (except concessions and cafes in B&Q stores). A B&Q Gift Card cannot be used for purchases at the following locations: www.diy.com, B&Q Appliances, B&Q call centres and B&Q stores outside of the UK including B&Q stores in the Jersey and Guernsey.

Gift Card List Management

After the initial registration process, your homepage is ready to use although you'll probably want to personalise it before making it available to your friends and family. You'll receive a confirmation email providing you with your bespoke web address and links to the control panel allowing you to edit your homepage. Once you're happy with the look and feel, use our free stationery to inform your friends and family of the Gift Card List or use the Facebook and email features to inform them instantly.
Yes! Not only can a personal message be left but you can also upload images, either from our image library or from your own personal photos. You can also add as much or as little information about your event as you wish, including venue, spending plans, dates, times and dress codes. We understand that it’s difficult to get the etiquette right when choosing to have a gift list which is why we make our service as customisable as possible so you can address the topic of gifts hopefully without feeling cheeky or impolite. You can also edit any details at any time from the "My homepage" section on your dashboard.
We can supply you with free of charge invitation inserts that provide all the information your guests will need in order to access your gift list page and pledge an amount to your Gift Card. The inserts also display our telephone number so if your guests prefer, they can make pledges over the phone. You can also choose to inform your guests about your wedding list instantly by Facebook or email. This is great for guests who may have misplaced the details or for any guests that have asked for a reminder of what you would like to receive as wedding gifts. Remember that if you set a password for your guests to access your Pledge List then you will need to include that on the insert so they can enter it when making a pledge online. If your guests choose to make a pledge over the phone they will not be asked for the password.
Yes, you can view the total pledged to your gift list by viewing 'My List Report' from your dashboard. We also send you an email notification when any additions are made to the list to keep you completely up to date with the total available on your B&Q Wedding Gift Card. You can set up your account so that multiple contacts are notified of any gifts.
No. Your guests will not be able to see how much other guests have contributed. This information is only available to the B&Q Gift List named account holder(s).
An automated email is sent to you when additions are made to your B&Q Gift Card. You can view the total contributed to your B&Q Gift List at any time from the 'My Reports' section on your dashboard page.
The Gift List can be closed at anytime with no charge. Simply select "Claim my Gift Card" option from the dashboard once you have logged in. If the account has monies pledged on it, we will contact you in order to organise the delivery of your B&Q Gift Card. Please note that the B&Q Gift Card cannot be exchanged for cash. Your account balance will only be issued in the form of a B&Q Gift Card.

Payment & Security

No, your guests will only be charged for the value of the gift they have given. So, if they give you £50, you will receive £50 and they pay £50 with no additional fees. There are no fees at all for either the list holders or the guests pledging money.
To give a gift to a B&Q Gift List, you just need to select the relevant event and then follow the instructions on screen. All we need is your name, address, value of your gift, your payment details and a personalised message. If you would prefer to make your pledge by telephone, please call 0371 200 0644 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm).
The value pledged by your guests is held in a secure holding account that can only be used for the purpose intended. It is not used for any other financial transactions.
The B&Q Gift List is managed and hosted by Voucher Express. Voucher Express employs Verified by Visa / MasterCard Securecode which allows guests to protect their credit cards used online by assigning a secret password. If your guests have joined one of these secure schemes they will be required to provide their password during the order process. Voucher Express has no knowledge of, or access to the passwords. To maintain secrecy the password is submitted directly to the card issuer, over a secure link, and does not get seen or stored by our system. Delivery & Packaging

You can close your gift list whenever you like but we recommend leaving it open for a couple of weeks after your event to ensure guests have ample opportunity to pledge. Just log in to your list then at the dashboard select "Claim my Gifts".
Once we have received notification of the closure we will contact you to confirm delivery details. If you close the account before 2pm on a working day (Monday to Friday) and we have been able to contact you before 2pm on that day then the Gift Card will be sent out that same day. Gift Cards are delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery and should arrive before 1pm on the next working day and will need a signature upon arrival. If you close the account on a Friday we cannot guarantee Saturday delivery as Royal Mail does not deliver to all areas on Saturdays. If you do not wish to have the Gift Card sent for the next day you can specify an alternative convenient date.
